In today’s digital age, self-tape auditions have become a fundamental aspect of the casting process. Geralyn will provide valuable insights into crafting effective self-tape auditions, covering essential technical aspects such as lighting, sound, framing, and guidance on delivering captivating performances that resonate with casting directors. Learn how to make your self-tape auditions stand out amidst the competitive industry.

This session is not just about Daytime TV. It’s about ANYtime.

The workshop session offers a comprehensive approach to acting beyond Daytime TV, emphasizing the significance of versatility and adaptability in the industry’s competitive landscape. With a focus on honing your craft, this session empowers actors to excel in various mediums, including daytime television, primetime shows, and films.

Under the guidance of  EMMY® winner Mark Teschner, actors can perform scenes, transcending the limitations of any specific genre or format. Mark’s role as a reader will facilitate the scene work and encourage actors to delve deeper into their characters, fostering a profound understanding of the material and its emotional nuances.

Furthermore, the feedback provided by Mark Teschner will catalyze growth, allowing actors to identify areas of improvement and implement necessary adjustments to elevate their performances. This iterative process of scene work, feedback, and refinement aims to cultivate a heightened sense of authenticity, emotional depth, and a profound connection to the characters and narratives.

Throughout the workshop, sides will be thoughtfully provided, ensuring that actors can access diverse material that challenges them to explore different facets of their acting abilities. Mark has been the Head of Casting for a major Network TV Series for over 32 years, during which time he has also taught at TVI Actors Studio. He is the recipient of 10x EMMY® Awards for Casting. Mark has a unique ability to communicate with actors which encourages them to deliver their best performance.

CASTING DIRECTOR

Geralyn Flood is an accomplished Casting Director renowned for her exceptional contributions to numerous iconic television series and films. With an extensive background in the industry, she has made significant strides in shaping the casting choices for prominent networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, The CW, and Disney, among others.

Her journey in the industry began as a Casting Assistant to Jeff Greenberg, where she played an instrumental role in the success of notable series like “Frasier,” “According to Jim,” and “Baby Bob.” Her tenure at Zane/Pillsbury Casting further solidified her expertise, with key contributions to the Disney pilot “Good Luck Charlie” and the USA Network pilots “White Collar” and “Gary Unmarried.”

In collaboration with her partner Marc Hirschfeld, Geralyn has made substantial contributions to projects, including “Kevin Can Wait,” “Stan Against Evil,” and “The Shannara Chronicles” for MTV, among others. Her work extends to the film industry, where she played a crucial role in the casting of significant films such as “Just Like Heaven,” “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” and “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.”
