This 4-week course, led by Paul Ruddy, is specially designed for actors with a solid foundation in acting training. It allows attendees to work on both dramatic and comedic material from many projects that Paul has cast. In addition, the class will delve deeply into the casting process and the art and business of Acting, effective auditioning, and industry trends at a time when we are experiencing sweeping change throughout the entertainment world.

Session 1: Introduction and Q &A

In this session, Paul will discuss his extensive experience working at talent agencies and as a Casting Director of film, TV, commercials, and theatre for 24 years. Actors will then introduce themselves and discuss their background and what drew them to acting. Finally, Paul will conduct an extensive Q&A about casting, auditions, industry trends, and the entertainment business in general. 

Session 2: Dramatic Scenes

Actors will perform dramatic scenes from actual film scripts with our reader, receive valuable feedback and perform the scene again, implementing any adjustments to enhance the scene & deepen their connection to the material.

Session 3: Comedic Scenes

Actors will perform comedic scenes from actual film and television scripts with our reader, receive valuable feedback, and perform the scene again, implementing adjustments to enhance the scene & deepen their connection to the material.

Session 4: Callback/Producer Sessions

This class is the culmination of the 4-week program. Each participant will be challenged to up their “game” to create powerful producer sessions and callbacks and book the role.

PAUL RUDDY, CSA: Paul has cast over 200 films and television series for Netflix, Tubi, Lifetime, Hallmark, Disney, Dreamworks, Syfy, Fox, and NBC/Universal, with A-List talent including Nicolas Cage, Harvey Keitel, Constance Wu, Rita Moreno, Vivica A. Fox and Jack Black.
