Course Description:

“Cold Reading & Scene Study Mastery”

Focus on nailing the audition. Learn the intricate aspects of auditioning for different formats.  Understanding how to prepare for a callback.  What gets in the way of booking your callback.  Preparing for industry meetings. Week 5 will include a guest Theatrical Agent evaluating your prepared monologues.

Week 1 – Genre: ½ hour TV sitcom

Week 3 – Genre: episodic drama

The “Pre-Read” – Cold reading 
**Start preparing/discussing your monologue


Week 4  – Genre: episodic drama

The Callback – Prepared cold reading scene (from “Week 3”)


Week 5 – Guest Theatrical Talent Agent

Guest Theatrical Talent Agent – Monologue showcase and evaluation


Week 6 – Self-Tape Evaluations
  • Self-Tape Auditions  –  Creating an exceptional audition performance.
  • What is required in your Self-Tape Audition?
  • Virtual auditioning –   Setting your virtual audition apart from other actors

What is expected
Preparing for Zora’s ongoing class 
(e.g., self-tape recording to view/critique in class)

INSTRUCTOR

Zora DeHorter, csa

Casting Director

Zora is a Nigerian born, British raised, Los Angeles independent/freelance film, television, and commercial casting director. She is on the Board of Directors of the “Casting Society of America.”

Zora was a casting director for MGM Television, casting series such as  “She Spies,” “Dead Like Me,” and “Jeremiah.”

Zora is currently working on 13 projects in development and has recently cast 3 films and 1 TV show, which are now in production.  She has 65 credits to her name to date.

She was also a casting consultant on the MGM feature film entitled “Max.”
